throwing room begins…

What follows is a copy of the email sent on 02/03/08, to all artists involved in the inaugual throwing room, which occurred on 03/03/08:

This is the official email to request your participation at the first throwing room.

WHEN: Monday 03/03/08, 7-9pm.
WHERE: Tivoli Arcade, off Bourke St near Swanston (if it is occupied by breakdancers, we shall move to a nearby equivalent location).
WHAT: Each Throwing Room is facilitated by one person. In this instance, it’s me (Benedict). I am interested in non-traditional, physically-inspired writing for theatre. This session will involve a series of experiments in story-telling and artistic expression through the medium of the body in a range of styles, in search of an exciting alternative to more traditional, intellectual writing methods. The session will start with a brief creative warm-up and end with a group discussion/reflection.
BRING: Yourselves. Comfortable clothing (don’t worry, it needn’t be strenuous or embarrassing, just so you feel unrestricted and aware of your body).
BETWEEN NOW AND THEN: Think about your body. What about you is sexy? What about you feels shameful? When/where are you strong? When/where are you weak? Can you think of any moments when your body has surprised or disappointed you? And think about love. How does your body change when you are in love? Think also about the bodies of the people you love.
